Frugi Organic Clothing - it’s the way forward!

13th September 2019

Since discovering the brand it has been a solid staple in the wardrobe of both my little angels. In 2008 the company changed its name to Frugi, meaning ‘Fruits of the Earth’ in Latin, it was at this point that the collection grew to also include gorgeous clothing for older children and breastfeeding wear for mums.  The clothing is all organic, pure, soft and snuggly. It is kind to babies and young children’s delicate skin and there are no harmful chemicals or dangerous dyes. Plus organic cotton is durable and long-lasting meaning you can hand it down for generations. Also all of Frugi’s outerwear, backpacks, lunch bags, pencil cases and coin purses have been made from post-consumer recycled materials - using all of those plastic drink bottles that are thrown away in household waste.  Frugi take great pride in the relationships they have developed with the companies and people who supply their goods. They regularly visit their suppliers to make sure that everything is in ship shape and working to the Frugi code of conduct.

Victoria Beckham’s 10th Anniversary – Taking it home

20th September 2018

After 10 years showcasing in New York, the designer featured her collection at London Fashion Week where Stella Tenant opened the show at Mayfair’s Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac. Since launching her brand in 2008, Victoria Beckham has gone from tight bodycon fitting dresses to a more structured, clean and confident silhouette. If there's one thing the brand stands for its giving their customers what they seek - a part of Beckham’s personality and curated aesthetic, which has visibly strengthened overtime. To commemorate the brands anniversary, Victoria Beckham has launched limited runs of her Tshirt which features the designers tongue in cheek shot of her legs appearing haphazardly spread out inside an oversized shopping bag. Photographed by Juergen Teller, the campaign is a recreation of a shoot they collaborated on in 2008 - Beckham's first foray into fashion.

Fashions Finest SS19 Collection at London Fashion Week

18th September 2018

The Sybarite went along to the SS19 showcase during London Fashion Week to take a look at the up-and-coming talent on show. International designers showcased their latest designs at Fashions Finest SS19 during the weekend at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Holborn, London. Starting off with Nepalese brand Gauhar which focused on oversized male garments in exotic, colourful textiles, it proved to be an eclectic, inclusive and colourful mix of styles on the runway on Saturday. Next up was Misora Nakamori, showcasing an interesting white, black and metallic futuristic womenswear collection. Nakamori, who is a recent Masters graduate in womenswear at the Royal College of Art in London, describes her style as "combining decent traditional techniques and details with some accents of odd shapes or materials to suggest unique yet futuristic ideas." One of Nakamori's previous collections, Misora, was centred on the notion that "we are recording every day, every moment and every event in life paths, all of which build [our] current selves."

An Interview with Pas De Marque’s founder and CEO Olga...

11th September 2018

How did you launch your jewellery business? This was my childhood dream. I grew up watching my mum, aunt and grandmother create beautiful things with their own hands - I learnt sewing, knitting, crocheting, stitching and jewellery crafting from them. As a kid, I spent all my weekends and holidays beading bracelets with my friends and I used to have a huge collection of beads and findings. Back then, I only had glass and plastic beads, of course. It was much later, that I started working with expensive, precious materials. It always seemed to me that this kind of business isn’t serious enough. That’s why I got education in another sphere - I have a bachelor degree in International Economics and Commercial Diplomacy. After University, I tried working in a family business, the international hotel chain Wellton. But I always felt like something was missing. So in 2014 I decided to take a risk. I registered my own company, created an Instagram account, ordered a small batch of materials and started creating jewellery at home. For 1 and a half years I was the only employee in ”pas de marque” responsible for manufacturing, marketing, delivery and all the rest. At first, the orders came only from friends, but then more and more people from Riga turned to me in search of beautiful handmade jewellery,  so I decided I needed an assistant and a shop.

Meet jewellery designer Imogen Belfield

12th September 2016

London-based jewellery designer Imogen Belfield’s signature style is mark making in metal; creating “a fusion between fluidity and texture.” Handmade in the UK, Belfield’s range of “cascading golden nugget pendants” and statement “rockesque” rings are undeniably one of a kind. In June this year, Imogen’s unique jewellery sculptures won her the coveted ‘Best in Gold’ title at the COUTURE Design Awards 2016 for her ‘Goddess’ showpiece necklace from the ‘Amazonian’ Collection. Since breaking into the world of fashion and jewellery in 2010, Imogen Belfield's eye-catching pieces have been featured in a number of influential fashion magazines such as Vogue and spotted on a number of celebrities including Cameron Diaz, Georgia May Jagger, Uma Thurman, Nicole Scherzinger and Rita Ora. Belfield’s love of jewellery design stemmed from a young age, influenced by the silversmithing and metalwork courses she took at 16, as well as her “inherent love for fashion, art and sculpture.” Describing her personal style as “eclectic and bohemian”, Imogen’s latest collection, ‘Amazonian’ focuses on the central shape of a spear-head form. Imogen tells us that the “combination of strength in symbolism and delicacy in the use of materials creates a dramatic fusion of brutality with beauty.”

"I don't follow trends, I set them": Meet shoe designer...

2nd September 2016

I met Lucy Choi at her recent pop-up event at The Hilton Park Lane. Chicly styled in a smart black tailored two piece, with her sleek pins exposed to highlight her red patent ‘Campbell’ shoes, Lucy seemed completely at ease whilst working the room. Despite her famous family ties to the world of shoe design (the legendary Jimmy Choo is her uncle), Lucy spent her early working life in the City; “I wanted to make sure I had that business skillset under my belt” she tells me. It was after this that she moved into the shoe industry, working for 10 years at family-owned brand French Sole. Here she noticed that there was a gap in the market for affordable high heels that had a long lasting wearability; “How often do you wear a pair of thousand pound shoes?” she exclaims.

Angela Bell - "Queen of cashmere"

9th September 2015

Dubbed by British Vogue as "the Queen of cashmere" and by Vogue USA as "One of the new knitwear designers to know", the former Pringle of Scotland designer is responsible for modernising the way cashmere is perceived today....getting rid of the conservative twin set and pearl/golf argyles image and injecting colour and fun with her playful intarsia designs which have since appeared on celebrities including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Clemence Poesy and Liv Tyler to name a few. Angela is a true cashmere connoisseur and has experimented with cashmere in so many different ways from creating bikini top and bottoms in the luxury fabric to boiling it to create a vintage cashmere flannel. Although the label is stocked internationally, Angela has chosen to base her business in the Scottish borders (all of her materials are sourced within a 25kim radius!), as a means of supporting the local economy as well as helping to preserve theheritage and traditional techniques of the Scottish knitwear industry.

The app for the “cash-rich, time-poor” - Urbanologie

8th September 2015

What is it? It is essentially a luxury lifestyle global destination guide designed to keep members in the know with up-to-the-minute insider news and exclusive content on all of the latest restaurants, bars, pop-ups, clubs and hotels openings with exclusive access to the most happening and unmissable events; from the world of fashion, the arts, music and sport. In addition to London, Urbanologie has daily-updated, insider guides to New York, Los Angeles, Dubai, Miami, Ibiza and Mallorca. Next is Paris, Monaco and Hong Kong. What began as a hobby of sending out newsletters to his influential friends and family, turned into the Urbanologie email newsletter that Hugo Campbell-Davys began sending out in 2012. Witnessing the exciting response, Hugo transformed the concept into a sort of a global members luxury/lifestyle community club, where members could expect to quickly get round-ups of the best venues to check out, even long before a critic could lay a word on it. One of the most well-connected men out there, Hugo – with investment from some founding members – launched the Urbanologie app, making it much easier for the user/member to access insider events/news on most major cities in the world – literally, in the palm of ones hand.
