The Luxury Insider: AIRE Ancient Baths London Review

This subterranean spa is one of London's most luxurious wellness spots.
It’s Monday morning and I’m floating in a warm salt bath surrounded by flickering candlelight and tall rustic archways under London’s ancient streets. I really am in heaven! Next, it’s time for a hot stream and some cold therapy in the plunge pool, set to 10C, before a full body massage and glass of fizz. I’ve had worse Monday mornings.
Luxury spas are my ultimate indulgence, there is nothing better...

Women Who Launch: Sarah Brown
23rd May 2024
Words such as 'clean' and 'sustainable' are frequently thrown around within the beauty sphere. Amongst the noise, it can be difficult to discern who is legitimate in their claims. Pai is the antidote to this confusion. Founded in 2007, the brand is not only backed by science and reviews, but by Brown's personal skincare struggles, too. Having developed a skin condition known as Chronic Urticaria in her twenties, Brown developed a keen interest in skincare ingredients. Instead of despairing over the lack of available products, she decided to create her own. Fast forward eighteen years, and Brown is the proud founder of a clean, vegan, cruelty-free & B Corp product line. Pai is gentle, while still being results-driven. It relies on tried-and-true formulas, while still being innovative. Unsurprisingly, all kinds of skincare enthusiasts now consider this brand a staple in their routine.

The Daily Habit That Can Drastically Improve Your Sleep
13th May 2024
It may come as a surprise, but the key to unlocking those elusive eight hours of blissful slumber could be as simple as lacing up your trainers and breaking a sweat. Yes, you heard it right. Exercise isn't just about fitting into your favourite jeans or keeping those doctor's orders at bay—it's also a powerful tool for enhancing your sleep quality and overall well-being. But before you dismiss it as just another item on your never-ending to-do list, consider this: the benefits of exercise extend far beyond the confines of the gym or the running track.

Women Who Launch: Raquel Bouris
8th May 2024
The perfume world is a competitive one, meaning that carving out a niche is necessary in order to succeed. Nobody knows this better than Raquel Bouris, a Sydney-based entrepreneur who started her highly perfume business, WHO IS ELIJAH, from her garage in 2018. Bouris had the idea for the brand just one year prior, having met a woman wearing an unforgettable scent at Coachella in 2017. In an attempt to recreate the perfume, Bouris created something else entirely, which she liked far better. This would go on to be the brand's flagship, gender neutral scent known as His/Her. This decision to keep scents unisex has become a key part of the WHO IS ELIJAH ethos. Blending masculine and feminine notes has resulted in boundary-pushing fragrances which are equal parts unique and universally appealing. On top of this, scents is cruelty-free and vegan, each hand-filled and produced in small batches to minimise wastage.

A Holistic Approach to Aesthetics at Lound Hall
30th May 2023
I’ll be the first to admit that I am easily convinced when trying the latest beauty crazes. But as I’ve gotten older and become more attuned and comfortable in my own skin, I’ve wanted a more natural appearance and approach to ageing. Gelida is a family-owned wellness and aesthetic experience dedicated to revolutionising the aesthetic industry through a holistic approach to initiating treatments. I was curious to find out how the terms aesthetics and holistic could coexist, because I for one, was not entirely convinced. Driving down the rolling hills of Northamptonshire by a member of the Gelida team in a very classy Range Rover, my curiosity piqued as we swerved into the long country road that led us up to the stately Lound Hall; my eyes wide in amazement. Lound Hall is the home of Gelida, as well as the home of its founder, Susan Mills. As I entered my senses awoke; potent incense sweeping past my nose, my eyes met with warm smiles, and my ears erected at the crackles of a roaring fireplace. I relaxed and sunk into the grand sofa, soaking up the aura that surrounded me, while indulging in an impressive selection of cakes and sandwiches for afternoon tea.

Review of The Nautilus Series - Day 1
23rd May 2022
A place where discretion governs and freedom reigns. It is not about seeing and being seen, it is about being. Having the opportunity to experience what The Nautilus has to offer is one thing but summarising it is another. We could write chapters about this place but for the purpose of ease and not to overwhelm, we have decided to illustrate this experience from the days and nights spent here, starting with our first night.

Featuring Cambodia high life - the height of luxury sustainable travel
9th May 2022
They arrive at reception for their welcome drink and perfumed refresher towel in chains and a safety helmet. The 865 acre Shinta Mani Wild Bensley Collection is an all-inclusive luxury tented camp located deep in the South Cardamom National Park. The tents are more like luxury lodges. The camp has 14 one-bedroom tents (141sqm) and one two-bedroom tent (140sqm) and offers guests bespoke experiences. Its unique mode of arrival is via a double-cable 400m zipline above the forest canopy and across the Tmor Rung river and the Raging Big Sister and Middle Sister waterfalls, straight into the Landing Zone Bar where guests are greeted by their Bensley Adventure Butler and the General Manager. And a gin and tonic. Or a slug of tequila. No mocktails! Not many hotels offer such a spectacular arrival. Or the chance to confiscate a bulldozer! The five-star tent lodges have been named like The Great Conservationist (after Sir Laurens van Der Post), The Botanist’s (which is decorated with Katie Spencer botanical artwork), Gibbons (situated close and personal with a resident troop of pileated gibbons), Birders and the First Lady Jackie Kennedy which marks her visit to Cambodia in 1967.

Featuring The top 6 out-there honeymoon destinations for Meghan and...
25th May 2018
Amongst other unconventional choices from the couple is their announcement that they intend to defer the all-important and anticipated honeymoon, instead preferring to return to work directly after the wedding. Although some claim to already know where the couple will honeymoon, nothing has been announced yet. That gives the rest of us the chance for some healthy speculation on where in the world the couple might choose for a truly 21st century royal escape. One thing’s for sure: this thoroughly modern royal pairing could choose anywhere in the world – so Odyssey Travels has compiled a honeymoon countdown of six of the world’s most exotic destinations, from Antarctica to Africa, and why they might suit Harry and Meghan down to the ground.

Review of The chapel – hairdressing with a difference
17th May 2018
I had heard some great reviews about this place and wanted to check it out for myself. I live in Kent, so the location was perfect for me as it meant that I didn’t have to travel back into town - but they also have salons in Islington and Tunbridge Wells. As soon as I arrived at the salon I felt at ease, I was offered a drink and my stylist Laura sat down and had a real conversation with me about what I was looking for and what I wanted to achieve from today’s appointment. Most importantly for me was the colour, having been turned a sort of reddy orange at the last salon I’d been too, I was desperate to add deeper, darker tones back into my hair. Letting me further relax in the cosy reception area, surrounded by beautiful flower arrangements, Laura went to mix up my colour. Each of The Chapel salons aims to offer the ultimate relaxation experience, all clients are given the complete one-to-one attention of the talented stylists and technicians. I actually find it very old fashion to run a salon where you are passed from person to person, with a junior stylist called in to wash your hair, so this philosophy was perfect for me.
