There’s a chill in the air that I happily escape as I step inside Nelsons Homeopathic Pharmacy by Grosvenor Square (which also houses Nazmeen Khaliq’s Revive Room). The nature of the location is a reflection of Khaliq’s ethos of delivering a more natural, holistic approach to beauty and skincare. She first embarked on her beauty journey at the age of 16, working the cosmetic counters at Clarins and Estee Lauder whilst training for her beauty therapist qualifications. Though her first role saw her gaining experience with popular mainstream treatments at a beauty salon, after a few years and an IBS flare-up to boot, she shifted gears and joined a natural pharmacy where she absorbed everything she could from the homeopaths, nutritionists, and herbalists who worked there. On a Saturday evening in serene Sicily, my pulse is racing at a rate of knots as sweat trickles down my face and the temperature continues to rise. Taking deep breaths as the towel is swung around frenetically to whip my heart rate even higher in searing heat, I know that I am indeed fast approaching boiling point.But just like that, I suddenly feel reinvigorated as I'm presented with a handful of ice cubes that I press against my neck to cool off. For the past few years I have had a tightening in my neck and pain in my shoulder which is often aggravated further by looking after the children (but I am a mum of two and as much as my GP says to rest and try not pick up the children, any busy mum will know that is just not possible). It was a breath of fresh air when I first met Nadia, where she practises in West London. Straight away she identified what was wrong and then she actually put her hands on me and got to work! Plus she didn’t try to tell me to stop doing things, rest or incorporate a list of exercising into my already busy day. (Ok there were a few at home exercises - but they were manageable).

Repose, at 40, High Street Kensington, offers a combination of classes and biohacking. Classes include EMA and antigravity while biohacking consists of therapies such as cryotherapy, infrared sauna and photobiomodulation. Unlike any other gym we have visited, Repose provides a calm and contemporary luxurious space where customers can seek clarity and feel comfortable while enjoying fitness and beauty services. And while many London based gyms can be extremely intimidating - industrial style sweat boxes, with men in a grunting competition trying to lift (and loudly drop) the heaviest weights possible, E-pulsive is the very opposite of this. Step off busy High Street Kensington into what feels more like a spa, a calm oasis of white, wood and bright open space. The actual gym area feels bespoke and private, and definitely not overwhelmingly busy. The space is entirely state of the art and high tech. The changing rooms are beautifully laid out with a space for changing, refreshing yourself post workout (think - hairdryers, face wipes, hairspray, tampons) and lockers to store your personal belongings. Although the space might not seem like the biggest, it is all that you really need for the luxury bespoke services that the team offers. There is a bright, luxury ski chalet spa feeling about the entire space.

Beginning when this 87-sq-km desert island was originally Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s private retreat. The founder and first ruler of the United Arab Emirates was given a bevy of exotic animals as gifts when exploring Africa as a young royal. After this, he took an interest and started collecting exotic species now thriving on the island's huge wildlife. Sheik Zayed’s initiative was to save a native species that had teetered on the brink of extinction; the Arabian oryx. Officially declared extinct in the wild in the late 1960s, it’s plight moved the animal-loving emir to begin developing Sir Bani Yas as a place to protect it. "The oryx is the main reason the island is the way it is today," says Matt Bottomer, an adventure guide who familiarizes visitors staying on Sir Bani Yas with its many resident creatures. "Sheikh Zayed searched the world to see if there were any oryx in captivity. "He found a handful and started a breeding program here."
