joia-el-mirador-tenerife-pool.jpg

Tenerife is not probably the first hotspot in Spain youd think of for a gastronomic vacation, but step away from the well-trodden path and there are plenty of culinary delights to discover.

Canarians are typically more used to the trade winds blowing from across the Atlantic Ocean. However, in the last few years, it is the culinary winds of change that have been blowing through Tenerife. Yes, you can still enjoy fast food favourites at Playa de las Americas such as cheese-laden pizzas and greasy fish and chips. However, dig a little deeper and you will find innovation and sustainability...

Discovering The Athens Riviera

Half an hour south of the Parthenon, a quieter corner of Greece is drawing fresh attention. The Athens Riviera, the coastal sweep from Piraeus to Cape Sounio, has long been overshadowed by the islands, seen more as a suburban sprawl than a destination in its own right. But things are changing. Once dismissed as a straggly extension of the capital city, it’s now drawing a different kind of traveller: one who wants museums and Michelin-level meals in the morning, a swim before lunch, and sunset cocktails without a ferry timetable to obey.

Living My Best Film Star Life At The Avani Rio Novo, Venice

No decaying, pastel-hued plaster. No splashing of water against walls. No scud of boat engines directly outside. Can this even be Venice? It can, and it is: the Avani Rio Novo Venice is one of the Avani’s more recent openings, occupying a 1950s building in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood, which is within walking distance of the bus and train stations. That’s right - you don’t even need to board a water taxi to get there.

Art, Appetite And The Thames: A Night Spent At Sea...

Perched on the buzzing South Bank, Sea Containers invites guests to experience London through a cultural lens. This ethos is fully realised in its ‘Culture Vulture’ package, which seamlessly blends luxury accommodation with art immersion and fine dining. Opting for this curated experience, I checked in for a night of creative exploration and culinary indulgence, punctuated by a visit to the Hayward Gallery’s highly anticipated Yoshitomo Nara retrospective.

Crete's Crown Jewel: Luxme White

Having everything you desire within an arm’s reach sounds too good to be true. While many resorts make such grand claims, the reality can be a long way from the marketing team’s promises. But love it or hate it, the all-inclusive concept is here to stay – a memorable experience hinges on finding the right one. Grecotel, a family-run collection of hotels and resorts across Greece, has perfected the formula. LUXME epitomises the group’s luxury-made- easy concept, which operates on an ultra all-inclusive basis. This package offers gold-class amenities and world-class service in a breathtaking setting. From the minute you ascend the stairs at LUXME White, you’re greeted with an enchanting view of sea, sky and palm trees. Setting the tone for relaxation and luxury, it’s instantly clear that this all-inclusive is a cut above the rest.

Duisdale House Hotel – Lochside Luxury on the Sleat...

Perched on the southern edge of the Isle of Skye, Duisdale House Hotel strikes a graceful balance between traditional Highland architecture and discreet coastal sophistication. With sweeping views across Loch Eishort, this boutique property offers a quietly luxurious escape, where heritage and comfort blend with natural ease. Tucked away off a narrow, winding road just off the North Coast 500 (and only a quick 20 minutes from Broadford), Duisdale feels purposefully off-grid. On a crisp May day, the loch mirrored the bright blue sky, while the ivy-clad stone façade stood in perfect harmony with Skye’s rugged, cinematic terrain.

Why Rome is the Ultimate Solo Travel Destination in 2025

Rome in 2025 feels like a city holding its breath. The new Pope, Leo XVI, has just stepped into the spotlight, casting a fresh light on an ancient stage. For those travelling solo, this year offers a rare kind of stillness amid the usual bustle. Walk Rome’s streets alone and you’ll find the city doesn’t mind. It whispers history in every corner – emperors and artists, saints and rebels – making solitude feel less like loneliness and more like company. This year, the Jubilee adds a new layer. The Holy Doors at St Peter’s Basilica have swung open, and crossing their threshold feels like stepping into a story that’s been waiting for you. Beyond the Vatican’s spiritual heart, Rome is full of intimate moments perfectly suited to solo travellers. Mornings can be spent with Bernini’s sculptures or Caravaggio’s paintings, afternoons wandering the peaceful lanes of the Jewish Ghetto or climbing Janiculum Hill for picturesque views. Evenings find you in neighbourhood trattorias where a glass of wine and a bowl of cacio e pepe are company enough. The Jubilee also means special exhibitions, concerts and less crowded paths through the Vatican Museums. Arrive early to hear the faint Gregorian chants echoing from the basilica, a reminder that in this city, history and the present moment are inseparable.
